For optimal patient care, the demands on a pedicle screw system are very high - regardless of the indication. Both simple and sophisticated spinal column fittings require not only the highest level of safety and stability, but also a comfortable, absolutely reliable set of instruments is indispensable for the surgeon.

The MONOPOLY rod screw system is intended for use on the thoracic/lumbar spine (Th2 - L2) and is used for internal dorsal stabilisation.

The system is used in one or more segments until the bony fusion of the spinal column has taken place. MONOPOLY offers a sufficient selection of components with a well thought-out design for this system.

For adaptation to different patient anatomies, the implants are available in different dimensions and are supplemented by additional implant components such as cross and parallel connectors.

The implantation is supported by the specially developed accessories for the insertion and positioning of the implant, only this ensures a safe application. MONOPOLY screws are not modular and are only available as one-piece implants.

MONOPOLY (in conjunction with NEVIO) can be used openly, percutaneously or minimally invasively (MIS) with the appropriate instrument set.

The cannulated and fenestrated MONOPOLY pedicle screws can be optionally cemented for better anchoring in bone with lower bone density (osteoporosis).

Screw thread
  • Cylindrical thread + last third conical to the tip (wedge thread) for optimal anchorage in the pedicle and vertebral body
  • self-tapping
Screw shaft
  • Cannulated (1.9 mm) and perforated for use with a stable 1.8 mm guidewire
  • 6 distal fenestrations allows safe cement injection into the vertebral body
  • large core diameter for better absorption and dissipation of shear forces
Tulips
  • Top loading system for easy handling
  • Angular variability of 20° in any direction
  • Flat profile
  • Colour coded
Set screw
  • Broad thread design for secure tulip locking
  • Optimized thread to avoid tilting
Instruments
  • Self-explanatory
  • Easy handling
  • Clearly arranged and user-friendly instruments

The implants are made of a titanium (Ti-6Al-4V according to ASTM F 136 / ISO 5832-3) and cobalt-chromium-molybdenum alloy (ASTM F 1537 / ISO 5832-12) and are nickel-free (ASTM F 136 / ISO 5832-3).

For easy identification, the implants are coated with oxide layers of different colours. Changes in colour are due to production and preparation and have no influence on functionality.

The materials are established for use as implants. They are biocompatible, corrosion-resistant, non-toxic in the biological environment and allow for trouble-free imaging in X-rays.
