Recap: 1st SPINE CAMPUS Conference

From June 26 to 28, 2025, the 1st SIGNUS SPINE CAMPUS Conference took place, a top-class specialist event that brought together renowned experts in spine surgery and participants from medical and technical fields from all over the world at SIGNUS. The purpose was to share the latest scientific findings, innovative technologies and practical skills and to promote interdisciplinary exchange.

June 26 - Kick-off and facility tour

The first day got off to a relaxed start with an exclusive tour of the SIGNUS production facility, which provided exciting insights into the manufacture of state-of-the-art implants. The evening was all about professional exchange over a welcome drink and the “Dine & Spine”. Divided into 3 groups, clinical cases were discussed in depth, providing a valuable platform for dialog with international colleagues.

June 27 - Expert lectures and CadLab

After a welcome from the SIGNUS team, the second day of the conference began with Prof. Dr. Hans-Joachim Wilke and his presentation on “Evaluating the Loading and Kinematics for a better Restoration with Implants in Various Regions of the Spine”. Prof. Dr. med. René Hartensuer followed with a highly topical lecture on the “S2-Alar-Iliac Screw for Pelvic Trauma”, in which he presented the results of a comparative study. Dr. Stipe Ćorluka presented the topic “Cervical Disc Arthroplasty: Restoring Biomechanics and Function”. Dr. Dr. med. Dipl.-Ing. Christian Morgenstern concluded the series of lectures with a comparison of the fusion methods “ALIF vs Full Endoscopic Large-Footprint TLIF”.
This was followed by hands-on workshops in several sections until the evening. First on the Surgical Training Device, then on the cadaver, the participants were able to try out the techniques presented under expert guidance.

June 28 - In-depth presentations and final discussions

The last day started at SIGNUS with further presentations by our speakers. After a coffee break, there was a live TED session with an interactive feedback round. The concluding discussion round offered participants the opportunity to clarify open questions and reflect together on the insights gained. The three-day event ended with a feedback session on the 1st SPINE CAMPUS Conference and the subsequent awarding of certificates.

The SIGNUS SPINE CAMPUS Conference 2025 proved once again how valuable interdisciplinary exchange and the combination of theory and practice are for the further development of spinal surgery. We are very grateful to all the speakers and their excellent contributions, but also to the participants for their commitment and interest.
