Stabilization of long constructs and poor bone stock remain a challenge in anterior cervical surgery. TOSCA® Expansion was developed especially for this purpose. The expansion screws anchor themselves in the bone like a wall anchor, thus achieving increased primary stability. With monocortical anchoring an increased primary stability comparable to that of a bicortical screw connection is achieved. TOSCA® Expansion with its very thin plate design and semi-rigid screw connection allows for load-sharing with the bone to facilitate segmental fusion (Wolff’s law).
TOSCA® Expansion offers the user a high flexibility in anterior stabilization from C2 to C7. Pre-lordosed plates are available in different lenghts for one to four segment constructions. The self-tapping expansion screws are available in different lengths and diameters – both angle variable with ample 5° angular variability and fixed angle version. At 1.6 mm TOSCA® Expansion is one of the thinnest cervical plates on the market.
In addition, TOSCA® Expansion can be connected to all SIGNUS cervical interbody implants RABEA®, NUBIC® and JASPIS® ST as well as to a bone graft to ensure a secure construct.
Made of a biocompatible titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V) with proven strength.
